DETAILS: Howard Schultz Miller was born Feb. 27, 1879, in Somerset County, Pa. He attended public schools in Brown County and Sabetha, Kan. He received his law degree from the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) in 1900. Miller was admitted to the bar in 1901 and began a law practice in Kansas. He was a member of the Masons, Kiwanis, American Farm Bureau, and Farmers Union. He lived in Morrill, Kan. Miller served on the Northeast Kansas Agricultural Research Association from 1952 to 1954, was vice-president of the Sabetha Elevator Association from 1952 to 1953, and was president of the Walnut Creek Watershed Association from 1951 to 1953. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from the First District as a Democrat from 1953 to 1955.
