Celebration was funded by Hapgood Wright Semi-Centennial Trust Fund, private contributions, sale of tickets and commemorative items, and municipal appropriations. Advance public interest was generated by logo and theme.

Peter Gomes (Professor of Theology, Harvard University), salute ceremony and flag raising, civic ceremony with David Little as keynote speaker, citizens' luncheon, parade with Elizabeth Babcock as Grand Marshal, and ball. Events ancillary to official public celebration included presentation of Our Town by Concord Players, quilt exhibition in Town House by Concord Piecemakers, and Publication by Concord Historical.
