Committee of nine appointed June 16, 1983 to plan public celebration in Concord of 350th anniversary of town's incorporation, Sept. 11-15, 1985. Officers: Richard C. Frese, Jr., Chair; Edgar W. Tucker, Vice Chair; Gail M. Marabello, Secretary. Subcommittees: Ball; Finance; Parade; Protocol and Hospitality; Public Relations; Town Gift; Public Health and Safety. Celebration was funded by Hapgood Wright Semi-Centennial Trust Fund, private contributions, sale of tickets and commemorative items, and municipal appropriations. Advance public interest was generated by logo and theme.

(Cont.) contests sponsored by Public Relations Subcommittee and through publication of commemorative calendar. Ceremonies included ecumenical service with address by Rev. Peter Gomes (Professor of Theology, Harvard University), salute ceremony and flag raising, civic ceremony with David Little as keynote speaker, citizens' luncheon, parade with Elizabeth Babcock as Grand Marshal, and ball. Events ancillary to official public celebration included presentation of Our Town by Concord Players, quilt exhibition in Town House by Concord Piecemakers, and Publication by Concord Historical.
