Samella S. Lewis (1924- ), African American artist, author, and educator. She received her B.A. at Hampton University and her M.A. and PhD in fine arts and art history at Ohio State University. She has taught at Florida A&M University, State University of New York, and Scripps College. Lewis is the founder of the International Review of African American Art and the Museum of African American Arts.
