Charles Harner "Hobey" Light was born October 5, 1902, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Light was a graduate of State College Area High School and a 1926 graduate of the Pennsylvania State College. He was an outstanding member of the Penn State backfield on the 1925-1927 football teams. Light was active in Parmi Nous, Friars, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, student council, the Inter-Class sports council, Y.M.C.A. Advisory Board, and was on the varsity football team as the fullback. He went to the University of Pennsylvania Medical School where he joined Alpha Kappa Kappa, the University of Pennsylvania medical fraternity. After graduating, he returned to State College and opened a pediatrics practice in 1932. He was a recognized pediatrician and school physician for Centre Hall-Potter Township schools for many years. He was a member of the State College Episcopal Church, the Centre Hall Lions Club, and the fire company. He died on January 26, 1951.
