Pierce, Margaret E.
Variant namesHenry H. Pierce, husband of Margaret E. Peirce, served in the 4th Connecticut Infantry during the Civil War and later rose through the ranks, and in the regular Army, achieved the rank of captain. While stationed at Ft. Canby, W.T., he was ordered to accompany a scientific exploring party from Ft. Colville to Puget Sound in 1883. Despite suffering from tuberculosis, he embarked on the arduous journey, and died on July 17 near Foster Creek, Okanogan County.
