The in-production (as of 2009) documentary, Dreamers and Fighters: The NYC Teacher Purges, was conveived by the late Sophie-Louise Ullman as an effort to honor the members of the New York City Teachers' Union (1916-1964), many of whom were fired in the early 1950s for their alleged Communism or refusal to cooperate with New York State and New York City investigations. Additional information can be found on the documentary's website (http://dreamersandfighters.com/index.htm)
