New Jersey branch of the American Society for Microbiology; organized with 96 charter members in 1941 as the New Jersey Branch of the Society of American Bacteriologists; changed its name to Theobald Smith Society in 1942; began publication of a montlhy newsletter in 1953; adopted a new set of by-laws (to replace 1942 version) in 1958 which established an executive board.
