D.T. Dudley & Son Company, located in Wilkinsonville, a part of Sutton, Mass., was a manufacturer of shuttles for power looms. Tracing its founding to 1825, it had several owners and partners before being acquired in 1867 by David T. Dudley and his son, Henry T. Dudley. In 1893 control of the company passed from the Dudleys; in 1894, the company was chartered by the Commonwealth of Mass. and Charles H. Norcross and Louis E. Chase became majority stockholders. Members of the Chase family had long been involved with the company, especially Daniel M. Chase; his son, Louis E. Chase; and Daniel M. Chase, a third-generation family member. In 1961 the company was sold to Howard Pellatt, who formed a new corporation, Dudley Shuttles, Inc., which existed until 1984.
