Judd, a native of South Carolina, graduated from Winthrop College. In 1915, she married Zebulon Vance Judd who became Dean of the School of Education at Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1920. Judd was a long-time resident of Auburn, Ala.
