Mrs. Harry J. Wood was born October 3, 1882 in Oil City, Pennsylvania. She moved to Douglas, Alaska, in 1908 with her husband, Harry, who worked in the Treadwell Mine. They had one child named Beatrice, born in Douglas in 1913. After the 1917 Treadwell "Cave-In", they moved to Chichagof and later Ketchikan. Mrs. Wood enjoyed photography and gardening and was active in the Eastern Star, Ketchikan Hospital Auxiliary, St. John's Episcopal Church and the Pioneers of Alaska. She died October 20, 1967, at the Sitka Pioneers Home.
