Organization of North American theologians and Bible scholars; founded in 1949; emerged in response to the need for interaction and wider dissemination of conservative, evangelical research on biblical and theological issues; began a quarterly publication entitled BULLETIN, 1958 (changed in 1969 to JOURNAL OF THE EVANGELICAL THEOLOGICAL SOCIETY) containing minutes of meetings, texts of selected papers, book reviews, announcements, etc.
