The Waterloo Counseling Center of Austin, Texas, was organized in 1983 primarily to rpovide counseling services to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals, and their friends and families. After its inception, the non-profit corporation began serving persons with AIDS through a program known as the Austin AIDS Project, which subsequently became AIDS Services of Austin, a separate organization. Waterloo continues to provide counseling services and support groups to residents of Austin and the surrounding areas, but specializing in gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and HIV/AIDS related issues.
