Lyman, Platte D., b. 1848.
Platte De Alton Lyman was born in 1848 near Fort Laramie, now Wyoming, and was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a child. He served as a missionary in England and held Church offices in Millard County, Utah, during 1867-1877. In 1879 he assisted Silas S. Smith in colonization of San Juan County, Utah, where he lived through 1884. After settling in Scipio, Utah, he held Church offices in Millard and San Juan Counties, and he served as president of the European Mission from 1898 to 1901. Lyman died in Bluff, Utah.
