Artists. Gerard and Velma Rayness were married in 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa and they moved to Ames, Iowa in the 1930s. They had been art students of Charles Atherton Cumming and taught at his art school. Many of their works received prizes and were on exhibit throughout the U.S.
