Burlington Refrigerator Express Company.
Hide Profile
The Burlington Refrigerator Express Company was incorporated in 1926 in Delaware and was operated as a subsidiary of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, whose refrigerator cars it leased and operated. The corporation was part of a pool that included the Fruit Growers Express Company and the Western Fruit Express Company, the latter a Great Northern Railway Company subsidiary. The three companies shared the same officers and exchanged surplus refrigerator cars to assure that each member line would have sufficient cars during its peak season of perishable traffic.
