Ernest Bowen, Annemarie Mutton's first husband, worked during the war at Laconia Woollen Mills in Melbourne. Annemarie Mutton worked for a time as an assistant at Preshil School in Hawthorn, which her children attended, and was later involved in the establishment of a kindergarten in Blackburn.
