Robert I. Fels was born January 26, 1913. During W.W. II he served with Companies I and D of the 86th Infantry Regiment and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Battalion, 85th Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division. Fels was stationed at Camp Hale, Colo., Camp Swift, Tex. During combat operations in Italy, he was twice awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Fels attained the rank of staff sergeant. He died in Los Angeles, Calif. on August 23, 2001.
