Kappa Phi, a national honor society, was founded in 1897. Mr. A. Edwin Philips, an alumnus of the Tennessee chapter and Dr. C.H. Gordon on the faculty at the University of Tennessee installed the chapter at the University of Florida on April 13, 1912 with a ceremony held at the Masonic Temple in Gainesville, Florida.
