Smith, J. Hamblin (James Hamblin), 1829-1901
Variant namesBorn in Kentucky, Smith moved to Indiana at an early age. He ran a general store in Fountaintown, Shelby County, Ind. with partner Benjamin Freeman. He also served as a township trustee and postmaster. His son W.H. Smith followed his father in operating the store and as postmaster.
