The House Committee on Public Education is a standing committee of the Texas House of Representatives. The committee designs and creates the House policies on public education matters. As a standing committee, the Committee on Public Education functions continuously, including the interim between legislative sessions. The Committee on Public Education's chairman during the 71st and 72nd Legislatures was Representative Ernestine Glossbrenner. As chairman of this committee, Representative Glossbrenner was entitled to serve as a member of the Legislative Education Board. This Board, created in 1987, oversees and reviews the implementation of legislative education policy, including fiscal policy.
