Susan Schotz Rhodes is a history teacher at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, Pa. In 1988 she participated in an institute for secondary-school teachers on women's history at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The institute relied heavily on the staff and holdings of the Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe College. In the early 90s one of Rhodes's students, Julia Love, made a documentary on women who manufactured glider wings at the H.J. Heinz Co. during World War II. The film, entitled Women in the Wings: Pittsburgh's World War II Workers, had its premiere in Pittsburgh in October 1997.
