Sylvan Meyer (1921- ) of Gainesville, Ga., and Miami Beach, Fla., journalist; editor of the Gainesville Times, 1947-1969; the Miami News, 1969-1973; and Miami Magazine, 1975-1987; and founder of Meyer Publications. Meyer, who received an AB in journalism from the University of North Carolina in 1943, was an editor of The Daily Tar Heel, 1942-1943.
