The Friends of the Library was founded in May 1932 and has been in continuous operation since that date. It was organized by University Librarian Louis Round Wilson to be an agent for the development of the Library's collections. Membership is open to all who pay nominal annual dues. Honorary life-time memberships are granted to donors who have made significant contributions to the Library, either by providing financial support for its development, or by the gift of books, manuscripts, or other library materials.
