Community Chest (Columbia, S.C.)
Benevolent organizaton supporting various local charities; sometimes identified as Columbia Community Chest; later operated under the name, United Way; the Columbia Chamber of Commerce launched this organization in 1925 following a community-wide, week-long campaign that raised its goal of $60,000 that year.
