Gordon Wear drove up the Alaska Highway in the early 1950s, with his wife Doris, opened an insurance company, and settled in Fairbanks, Alaska. Gordon Wear was a prominent civic leader, member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Military National Civilian Advisory Board, as well as President of the Fairbanks Rotary Club. Doris Wear was a schoolteacher at Fort Wainwright and an active member in the Top of the World Garden Club.
