John Earl Cline, Methodist minister, of Waleska, Georgia attended Emory College in Oxford, Georgia and was a graduate (1917) of the Theology School when Emory established an Atlanta campus. Met Eunice Lovett, daughter of William Duval and Lois W. Lovett of Birmingham, Alabama, while both were attending Reinhardt College (Waleska, Ga.). They married on February 6, 1918. Their children were Edgar Earl Cline (1918-1945), John T. Cline, and Lucy Cline Huie.
