Artist, teacher, and writer; resident of Lincoln, Iowa and after retirement in 1959 due to failing eyesight, of Campbell and Saratoga, Calif. Gebers was a student and friend of Grant Wood and a member of his artists' colony in Stone City, Iowa. She completed over 3,000 paintings in her lifetime, gaining a reputation as a "regionalist" in the art world. Her work was featured in numerous exhibitions and won regional and national awards. She also taught painting in public schools, in community adult education classes, and in her own studio.
