Jansen, Peter K.
Professor and literary translator. Born in Essen, Germany, completed his M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Illinois. After working both at the University of Illinois and Indiana University, he joined the faculty of the University of Chicago in 1968, where he remained until his retirement in 1999.

Peter K. Jansen, born in Essen, Germany, completed his M.A. and Ph.D at the University of Illinois. After working both at the University of Illinois and Indiana University, he joined the faculty of the University of Chicago in 1968, where he remained until his retirement in 1999. In addition to his scholarship, Jansen was an accomplished literary translator, and taught the theory and practice of translation at Chicago.
