Professor of Ecclesiastical History, 1866-1876, and Professor of Systematic Divinity and Homiletics, 1876-1989, Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia. Acting Dean, Protestant Episcopal Theological Seminary in Virginia, 1895-1898.
