Lawyer. Henry Charles Frey was born in Buffalo, NY on August 22, 1882. Both of his parents died shortly after his birth and he was raised by Charles and Mary Frey. He attended Olean High School, entering Cornell in 1900. He graduated in 1904 with a B.A. from Arts & Sciences and in 1906 with an L.L.B. from the Law School. At Cornell, he was on the Track Team and the Cross Country Club, and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Theta Lambda Phi (eventually Delta Theta Phi) Law Fraternity. After graduating, he had a private law practice in New York for many years. From 1912 to 1925, he served as the "Law Secretary" to the New York Supreme Court. From 1929 to 1942, he served as a federal bankruptcy referee for the Eastern District, NY. During World War I and World War II, he served on the Selective Service Board.
