American Association of University Women. Tacoma Branch.
Founded in 1907 as the Tacoma Branch of the Association of Collegiate Alumnae with its purpose "to unite the alumnae in the Tacoma vicinity for practical, philanthropical, and educational use." In 1921, the national association changed its name to the American Association of University Women and the Tacoma, Wash., branch followed suit. It has continued to provide an organization for college educated women in Tacoma to pursue academic studies and community outreach.
