Massachusetts sea captain; member of Boston Marine Society. Born Sept. 3, 1789, in Charlestown, Mass., to Thomas and Mary Ball Edes. Died in Worcester, Mass., Sept. 22, 1862; buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery. Married Sarah Barker of Pembroke, Mass., on Jan. 18, 1818. Their daughter Sarah (born in 1827 in Charlestown, died in 1895 in Concord, Mass.) became the wife of George Lincoln Prescott, a Concord dealer in lumber, building supplies, coal, hay, etc. (G.L. Prescott fought in the Civil War with the 5th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment and the 32nd Massachusetts Regiment, died at Petersburg.
