The papers provide little information on most of the Heustis family members. The Heustis Family Papers document two family members, Andrew L. Heustis and Jane Heustis, Andrew L. and Alice May Heustis' daughter. The earliest records in the papers show Charles and Mary Heustis and their four children - Andrew Lutkins, Dorothy, Stephen Cornell and Eilien living in Flushing, N.Y. Charles A. Heustis was an inventor and worked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Andrew L. Heustis was a paymaster for the U.S. Navy in World War I achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He served on one ship, the U.S.S. Maumee from 1916 to 1917 (Chester Nimitz was executive officer of the Maumee until 1917) and the training facility, Officer Material School for the Pay Corps from 1918 to 1920.
After the war Andrew L. and Alice May Cornell married and settled in Elmhurst, Queens. They had two children Jane and Andrew. Andrew L. may have been an architect until he retired. Jane Heustis was born 19 June 1918 and attended Russell Sage College from 1936 to 1940. She married Malcolm Oglivie in 1942, who had been a traveling salesman from 1940 - 1942. In 1942 the U.S. Navy drafted him for World War II.
