Organized in 1876 as a reunion of graduates during the 25th anniversary year of The Buffalo Female Academy (renamed The Buffalo Seminary in 1889).
In 1884 the Association incorporated and built its Chapter House on Johnson Park, across from the school. Activities included continuing education for members, annual school anniversary celebrations, and fundraising efforts on behalf of the school. The Graduates sold the Chapter House in 1894 and bought the former Delaware Avenue Baptist Church. Later the same year the property was taken over by the newly formed Twentieth Century Club which included, but was not limited to, members of the Graduates Association. The Graduates continued to hold their meetings at the Twentieth Century Club for the next fifteen years. In 1907 the group acquired property on Bidwell Parkway, and mortgaged it to erect a new school, which opened in 1909. Members held meetings in the school library until 1923, then rented space in other locations until 1929, when an addition to the school provided them with their own space, which they named West-Chester Hall. Dues were charged until 1974, when membership was opened to all graduates. The Graduates Association gradually became less active after the formation of the The Buffalo Seminary Alumnae Association in 1965, and was dissolved in September, 1998.
