The donor, Bruce Ferguson, was from Union Co., Ky. The compiler of the scrapbook, William Behringer, was from Covington. William Goebel, the subject of most of the clippings, was the Kentucky Democratic gubernatorial nominee in 1899. He was shot after the campaign. The election results were disputed between Democrats and Republicans.
