Bennet Prindle, born on July 15, 1791, in Fairfield, Connecticut, was the son of Riverus Prindle and Betsy Stilson. Bennet married Phoebe A. Prindle and they had a daughter, Anna ("Anny") Maria Prindle, and a son, Washington Prindle. Anna married a man named Sylvanus Dixon and had six children: Caroline, Napoleon, Sylvanus, Phebe, Vashti, and Rhoda. They lived in Cleveland, Ohio.

Sylvanus S. Dixon was born in 1841. He married Cora P. Ault on February 22, 1864, in Cleveland, Ohio. During the Civil War, Sylyanus fought with the 1st Ohio Infantry, Co. E, and was promoted to 1st lieutenant after distinguishing himself in battles at Vienna and Bull Run in Virginia.
