Shaw, Henry, 1800-1873
Variant namesHenry Shaw was born in London, and showed artistic ability as a youth. He became an architectural draftsman, illuminator, and engraver, notable for designing or adapting all the decorative elements in Longman's 1864 edition of the New Testament. He was also an antiquarian of note, and published numerous works on the subject, including books on medieval and Elizabethan art and architecture.
