Connor, Peggy Jean
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in 1932, Peggy Jean Connor served as secretary-treasurer of the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) in Hattiesburg and as executive secretary of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP). She taught citizenship classes at True Light Baptist Church under the auspices of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in 1962-1963 and was arrested in April 1964 picketing for voting rights at the Forrest County Courthouse.
