Association of Medical Officers of the Confederate Army and Navy

Hide Profile

The Association was organized in Atlanta, Georgia on 20 may 1874 as a result of a call published in 1873 from former Confederate Surgeon-General Samuel Preston Moore and a number of prominent physicians (former Confederates), including Hunter Holmes McGuire.

The object of the Assoication was "to cultivate friendly feelings among the members of the profession who served in the Medical Department of the Confederacy; and also to collect any material or information pertaining to the medical service of that army and navy."
