Norwood, Rose, d.1980.

Union organizer Rose Finkelstein Norwood grew up in Cambridge and Jamaica Plain, Mass.; her father was a garment worker. Her first job was as an operator for the telephone company, where she helped to form a union that led to the first successful strike in the industry (1919). She attended the Bryn Mawr Summer School for Women Workers in Industry in 1921. During World War II she organized shops all over the state for the Women's Trade Union League. As president of the Boston Women's Trade Union League, Norwood helped organize retail workers at Jordan Marsh Co. in the 1960's and later served on the Mayor's Advisory Council on the Affairs of the Elderly. She was active in the Zionist labor movement for fifty years and president of a chapter of B'nai B'rith.
