Dr. David M. Foley was a university professor whose area of expertise iwas in African history, and for part of his career, he taught at the University College of Sierra Leone in the mid 1960s. From 1967 to 1977, he was assistant professor of history at the University of Georgia, and in 1977 he became an Associate Professor at Augusta College, also in Georgia. During his career, he was a co-editor of the African Studies Journal, a member of the American Historical Association, and a fellow of the African Studies Association.
