Biographical note: Born in England, the son of an Oxford rare-book dealer, E. R. (Ernest Richard) Gee was at one time associated with Brentano's Bookstore in New York City as a specialist in American sporting literature. He later opened his own shop in New York, dealing in rare sports books.
