Liston, Isaac McCoy
Isaac McCoy Liston (1824-1863) of Lewis, Indiana in Vigo County, was mustered into Company K of the 85th Indiana Regiment on 12 August 1862. The 85th was part of the brigade that engaged Confederate forces under the command of General Nathan Bedford Forrest at Thompsons Station, Tennessee, in March 1863. The 85th charged Forrest's troops several times and suffered severe losses. Liston was one of the casualties and died on 5 March 1863. The 85th surrendered and its members were imprisoned at Libby Prison. The survivors were later exchanged on 31 March 1863.
