Hoagland, John H., 1840-1926
John H. Hoagland was born 1 Mar. 1840 in New Jersey. He enlisted in the 6th New Jersey Infantry Regiment, Army of the Potomac, in 1861 and participated in the Battle of Williamsburg and ten subsequent engagements. He was wounded in the Battle of Chancellorsville. In 1910, Hoagland was Special Agent in Charge in command of the Pittsburgh, Pa., office of the Bureau of Investigation. He was a resident of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in Virginia from 1914 until 1918 and again from 1923 until his death in 1926. Hoagland was married to Annie Hoagland; his daughter was Florence N. Hoagland of Washington, D.C.
