Fermor Church (1900-1975) was Acting Headmaster of the Los Alamos Ranch School when the school was appropriated by the United States government and became the headquarters for the Manhattan Project in 1943. Church also served as president of the Los Alamos Foundation until it was dissolved in 1973.
