Born Clara Garfinkle in 1901, Clara Shirpser was involved in many national Democratic Party campaigns including the Stevenson-Kefauver and the Kennedy-Johnson campaigns. Shirpser also ran for Assemblywoman to District 18, Berkeley and Alameda in 1950. Clara Shirpser's three husbands predeceased her, her first husband in 1938, second husband Adolf Shirpser in 1970 and Nathaniel Levy in 1984. Clara Shirpser Levy died in 1996.
