Bell, Thomas S. (Thomas Sloan), 1838-1862
Variant namesThomas Sloan Bell (1838-1862) was the son of Thomas S. and Keziah Hemphill Bell. As a lieutenant colonel with the 51st Pennsylvania Volunteers, Bell saw action at the Battle of Roanoke Island, Newbern, and Camden (South Mills), N.C.; the second Battle of Bull Run, South Mountain, and Antietam, where he was killed on 18 Sept. 1862.
