Charles R. Mischke was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering (1964-1992) at Iowa State University. He received his B.S. (1947) and M.M.E. (1950) in mechanical engineering from Cornell University and his Ph.D. (1953) in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He also served as an Assistant and Associate Professor (1953-1957) at the University of Kansas and as Professor and Chair (1957-1964) of mechanical engineering at the Pratt Institute in New York. Mischke gained expertise in machinery, kinematics, stochastics of steel, reliability of design, and engineering design methodology.
