Francis W. Beedon, Democrat and State Representative from the 96th Congressional District from 1963 to 1968, was born in Forester Township, Sanilac County, Mich. in 1902. He received his A.B. from Albion College and his A.M. from the University of Wisconsin. He was a teacher for 23 years in the Muskegon public school system and 17 years as an instructor at Muskegon County Community College. He was also president of the local teacher's club, the Michigan State Teachers' Club, and the Michigan Education Association. In 1943, he served as chairman of the Resolution Committee to the National Education Association, and from 1957 to 1967, he held various committee assignments with the National Association. His interest in education continued when he was elected to the House. He served on the House Education Committee in 1965-66 and 1967-68.
