Jesuit missionary to the Iroquois.

Millet arrived in Canada in 1667, and worked among the Onondaga, 1668-1671, and the Oneida, 1671-1684. From 1684 to 1689, he served as chaplain and interpreter at Forts Niagara and Frontenac. Captured in June of 1689 by Iroquois who believed the missionary had betrayed them, Millet's life was spared through the influence of Christian Oneidas. He was adopted as a chief by the tribe and served as an influential adviser until his return to Quebec in 1694.

From the description of Account of his captivity among the Onneidas [i.e. Oneidas] in 1690-1691, 1890-1894 / by Pierre Millet of the Company of Jesus ; translated by Mrs. E.E. Ayer. (Newberry Library). WorldCat record id: 38889129
